Google 7 Pack Replaces Google 10 Pack?

Google 10 Pack Now a Google 7 Pack

Google 10 Pack Now a Google 7 Pack

Perhaps like the seasons, Google once again appears to have switched from their 10 pack local search listing to a more compact 7 pack listing.

I woke up this morning, checked on some of my client’s listings and immediately noticed that three local businesses, who were perhaps relying on being included in the Google 10 pack, are now considered part of the ‘more results’ group.

I quickly did a search in Google on Google 7 pack and began to notice only a handful of results, all posted within the last 4 -6 hours from across the pond in Europe, where it was being slowly discovered as well. I’m anxious to see the eventual and full response of this change when SEO’s on this side realize what’s happened.

The other noticeable difference is that they now only seem to consist of two lines, with only the hyper-linked company name appearing on the first line, with Google’s little green-check mark. The second line, directly under and flush left you will find the URL. Definitely a cleaner looking style and more in line with how Google first started out a few years ago.

Should be interesting to see how this big change for local search shakes out over the next couple of days. No doubt local search SEO tips will need to reevaluated and honed.
